About your host

Natalie James, MS, NCC, LPC

Natalie James is a Nationally Certified, Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in children and adolescents with a private practice in Bend, Oregon. Natalie is the founder of DreamBranch Education, offering educational consulting and professional trainings  focused on emotional intelligence all over the country. She is a master trainer with the Oregon Child Care Registry, as well as a part-time adjunct instructor in the Human Development and Family Sciences program at Oregon State University, Cascades. Natalie has authored two therapeutic children's books, as well as developed a therapeutic board game. She believes humor is key in learning and is known for keeping audiences both engaged and entertained.

(Day 1) Anxiety, Trauma & Emotional Dysregulation: How to Spot it, What to Do

  • A full day of fun and functional introductory neuroscience as it relates to emotional intelligence.
  • Education vital to adopt a clear understanding of the autonomic nervous system in distressed, anxious, and traumatized youth.
  • Learn to recognize signs and symptoms of anxious disorders and problematic distress
  • Day one of this retreat will allow participants to explore the impacts of experience and relationships on learning and behavior.
  • Develop appropriate and effective techniques for guiding young people in crisis
  • Obtain practical tools for enhancing emotional regulation and cultivating resilience.

(Day 3) Best Practices for Challenging Behavior

Half day in-depth exploration of both proactive and reactive strategies designed to increase knowledge of how to:  


  • Roll with Resistance
  • Reduce Opposition
  • Respond to Rage
  • Diffuse Conflict
  • Survive the Storm of Distress
  • Support the Selectively Mute
  • Banish Bullying/Dominant Behavior

CEUs

  • Registered participants will earn 9 CEUs or clock hours toward professional development upon completion of general sessions. 

OR

  • 9 CEs (Set Two Standard, Oregon Childcare Registry) available for child care providers upon completion of general sessions


  • *Up to 9 additional CE hours accrued through participation in workshops on Day Two

Professional Rate

$475 per person:

Includes courses, materials, CEUs and certificate of attendance, two catered lunches (days 1 & 2), morning snack and refreshments (days 1, 2 & 3). Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.

Early Bird rate expires December 1st, 2019; 

Regular Professional Rate until April 15, 2020; $525 thereafter

Group Rates

Professional parties of 3 or more registering together will receive a 10% discount at the applicable rate (Early Bird or Regular). Payment must be made in full and group status indicated at time of registration. 

Non-Professional Rate

$375 per person:

Includes courses, materials, two catered lunches (days 1 & 2), morning snack and refreshments (days 1, 2 & 3). Dietary restrictions will be accommodated. Please note this rate does not include any CEUs or certificate of attendance. Group Rates will not be honored.

Early Bird rate expires December 1st, 2019; 

Regular Non-Professional Rate- $375


**Foster Parents may register at the Non-Professional Rate and still receive continuing education certification. Please indicate your active foster parenting status when registering for this event to ensure certificate of attendance is prepared for you.

Sunriver Resort is 18 miles south of Bend, Oregon and a scenic 3 hour drive from Portland, Oregon & Portland Airport (PDX).


Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is only a 40 minute drive away.  Direct flights available from Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Airport transfers available upon request.
